Mobile ID in Apple Wallet FAQ

  • What is Mobile ID in Apple Wallet?
  • Mobile ID in Apple Wallet allows your iPhone or Apple Watch to function like your physical ID card. Anywhere a physical card can be used, you may be able to use your iPhone or Apple Watch instead.
  • What do I need to get started?
  • To use Mobile ID in Apple Wallet, you will need:
     - iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, or later running the latest version of iOS
     - Apple Watch Series 1 or later running the latest version of watchOS
     - Apple ID signed into iCloud
     - Atrium Campus Connect app
     - Access to the identity verification process provided by your organization
  • How do I add my Mobile ID to Apple Wallet?
  •  1. Submit or confirm your approved ID photo through your organization’s designated process.
    2. Download, install, and configure the Atrium Campus Connect app.
    3. Open the Atrium Campus Connect app and enter your organizational email address to confirm your organization.
    4. Log in to the app.
    5. Follow the prompts to activate your Mobile ID.
    6. Once your Mobile ID is activated, go to Settings in the app.
    7. Select Biometrics and enable Face ID or Touch ID.
    8. Return to Settings and select Credentials.
    9. Tap Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Apple Watch.
    10. Once activated, the credential status will show as Active.
  • I am having trouble adding my Mobile ID to Apple Wallet. Who can help me?
  • Please contact your organization’s ID services or support team for assistance.
  • How do I verify my Apple Watch device version?
  • The Series number for your Apple Watch can be found on the back of the watch. Series 0 Apple Watch is not eligible for this program.
  • How do I verify or update my Apple Watch software version?
  • You can verify or update your Apple Watch software by following Apple’s support instructions for watchOS updates.
  • On how many devices can I use my Mobile ID in Apple Wallet?
  • You can use your Mobile ID on up to two devices: one iPhone and one Apple Watch. Both devices must be signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID.
  • Where can I go for questions about my Apple ID or iCloud?
  • Please visit Apple Support for help with Apple ID or iCloud questions.
  • How do I change or recover my Apple ID password?
  • Please visit Apple Support for instructions on changing or recovering your Apple ID password.
  • What happens if I lose my iPhone or Apple Watch?
  • Use Find My iPhone to suspend or deactivate your Mobile ID in Apple Wallet.
    You should also contact your organization’s ID services or support team during business hours so they can assist with deactivating the credential if needed.
    If you later find the device, you may be able to reactivate it through iCloud or with assistance from your organization’s support team.
  • What happens if I get a new iPhone or Apple Watch?
  • First, remove your Mobile ID from your old device in the Apple Wallet app.
    Once the old pass has been removed, you can add your Mobile ID to the new device using the Atrium Campus Connect app.
  • Why can’t I double-tap the Home button or Side button when my iPhone is locked to see my balances in Apple Pay?
  • When Express Mode is enabled, your Mobile ID may not appear with other cards in Apple Wallet for security reasons.
  • If I have a passcode on my phone, will I have to enter it every time?
  • If you are using Express Mode, you do not need to unlock your phone each time you use your Mobile ID.
    If Express Mode is not enabled, you may need to authenticate each time. Express Mode is typically enabled by default.
  • Can I use Mobile ID if my iPhone has a dead battery?
  • On iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, and newer models, Express Mode with power reserve may remain available for up to five hours after the device’s battery needs to be charged.
  • Can I use Mobile ID in Apple Wallet without cellular signal?
  • Yes. Mobile ID in Apple Wallet can be used even if your iPhone or Apple Watch does not have network connectivity.
    If you experience difficulty, contact your organization’s ID services or support team.
  • Does it cost anything?
  • There is no cost to use Mobile ID in Apple Wallet.
  • Do I have to have a photo?
  • Yes. An approved photo is required for eligibility.
  • Is this only for students?
  • Faculty, staff, students, and other eligible users may use Mobile ID as long as they meet all device, software, and organizational requirements.
  • I have my iPhone and Apple Watch set up. What if I lose one of them?
  • Your other device should continue to work. You should mark the missing device as lost through iCloud until it is found.
  • How do I use Mobile ID from my phone?
  • Simply tap your phone at the reader instead of using your physical card.
